Common questions
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Someone comes out, walks the tree, and you get a written price with the scope spelled out. No charge and no obligation to book.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — general liability and workers' compensation, and we send the certificate before you book. Texas does not license tree services at state level, which is exactly why the insurance question matters: an uninsured crew's mistakes land on your homeowner's policy.
How much does tree removal cost?
Small trees under 25 feet run about $300–$650; medium trees 25–50 feet $650–$1,500; large trees over 50 feet from $1,500 upward. Access and what is underneath move the price more than height does. Full detail is in our cost guide.
Do you top trees?
No. Topping causes decay at every stub, produces weakly-attached regrowth, and leaves you with a more dangerous tree within a few years. Crown reduction or removal are the honest alternatives when a tree is too large for its location.
When should I prune my oak trees?
July through January. The Texas A&M Forest Service advises against pruning oaks between February 1 and June 30 because sap-feeding beetles carrying oak wilt are attracted to fresh cuts. If storm damage forces a cut in that window, paint every wound immediately.
Why are my tree's leaves yellow with green veins?
That is iron chlorosis, and it is extremely common in North Texas alkaline soil. The iron is in the soil but chemically unavailable at high pH. Chelated iron corrects it. It is a soil chemistry problem, not a disease, and it does not spread.
Do you grind the stump as part of a removal?
It is a separate line item, but doing it on the same visit costs less than bringing a grinder back later. Always check whether a removal quote includes the stump and to what depth — ours says so explicitly.
What happens to the wood and brush?
Included in the quoted price: brush is chipped and hauled, wood removed or left cut to length if you want firewood, and the ground is raked and blown before we leave. Leaving rounds on site reduces the price, so say so when we quote.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree?
On private residential property in most of our area, no. Trees in the right-of-way, protected or heritage trees under a local ordinance, and anything on commercial or platted-development land are different — several cities do regulate those. We check the ordinance for your address before quoting.
Will homeowners insurance pay for tree work?
Generally only when a tree has damaged an insured structure. Preventive removal of a healthy or even a dead tree is normally a homeowner expense. We document storm damage thoroughly so you have what an adjuster needs.
How far out are you booking?
Estimates usually within a couple of business days; scheduled work typically one to two weeks depending on season. Hazard situations move to the front of the queue.

Do you do emergency and after-hours work?
Storm and hazard calls are answered outside office hours. If anything is touching a power line, call the utility first — we do not cut energised conductors.
Do you work with HOAs and commercial properties?
Regularly. COI and W-9 on file before mobilisation, itemised invoicing, phased budgets, and work scheduled outside business hours where the property needs it.
